Melissa's hand quilting class is no longer being offered.

Supply list for Phyllis's Call Me Quilt

Phone book squares will be provided.

Background fabric* (This fabric will be the “constant” throughout the quilt. It will form the center strip of each block.)

  • 1 yard will create the center strip for fifty-six (56) 6 ½ inch blocks

  • Cut background fabric into 2 ½ strips (2 ½ x 44)

Scrappy strips (This fabric can produce a theme of color or pattern, or it can be totally scrappy. It all depends on your taste.)

  • From each scrap, cut various widths of strips.

  • Cut strips ranging in widths from ¾ inch up to 1 3/4 inches. (¾ inch, 1 inch, 1 ¼ inch, 1 ½ inch, and 1 ¾ inch)

  • Don’t cut a lot of ¾ inch and 1 inch strips.

Bring to class

  • Fabric as described above

  • Sewing machine

  • Neutral thread and basic sewing supplies

*Since making my “call me” quilt, I have seen other quilts that do not have a consistent background fabric. They are beautiful, too, especially if you like scrappy.

Just remember, you will not get this done in one class, but you will have enough information to get a good start and finish at home.
