Donation to Senior Citizens – On September 22, the Senior Center is hosting a Chicken & Dumplings Dinner. Thrivent Lutheran Financial Services will match the donations (up to $800) for this event. This would be a good time to give a donation from the guild, attend the fund raiser (asking $6 donation), and volunteer to serve or provide desserts. Also, stop by any day for lunch.

Minutes from August 14, 2007
At 6:30 pm President Phyllis called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. There were 38 members present with 6 new members and 8 guests.
Show and Tell: Members participating were Phyllis Hargis, Carol Grix, Barbara Viitanen, Diana Dawson, Judy Carriere, Linda Montgomery, Saphrona Brewington, Mary Beth Parish, Lavada Rawlings, Betty Caughron, Martha Smith, Martha Steinbruegge, Linda Nickelson, Vicki Smith, Loretta Hartrup, and Joyce White.
Thank you to the Nutrition Center. Phyllis suggested that we should thank the Center for allowing us to meet here every month and allowing the friendship groups to meet here as well. Some fundraising may be in order as a group and in friendship groups as well. Another way we can show our appreciation is by donating time at the center either by serving meals or driving Meals-on-wheels.
Minutes and treasurer’s report from July were read and approved.
Barbara Viitanen informed us that Country Quilter, Cabin Fever, Mad Monks and Red Rooster will be offering discounts to members with their membership cards.
Friendship groups have been meeting and most have already chosen a name, such as, Better Late than Never, Sew Scrappy Sisters, Sun Bonnet Sue’s, Crazy Scrappers, Busy Bobbins, Stash Sisters, Nimble Thimbles.
We are now a not for profit organization. Thank you Martha Smith for all your hard work.
Library. Judy has been looking for a front closing cabinet and is still looking. The guild voted to authorize her to spend up to $150.00 for the purchase of one. Phyllis donated “The Quilter’s Traveler’s Guide” to the library.
September is the deadline for charter membership. We will be celebrating with cake, punch, and a photo at the September meeting. We will also receive information about a charter quilt.
St. Charles Quilts on Main invited us to take part in their festival. It is September 8, but we decided we were not ready to participate, maybe next year.
Surveys are available on the web site to let you indicate what classes and programs you would be interested in the guild making available. This is your guild, so give your input.
Prizes- 50/50 was won by Sharon Bay less. Attendance prizes were won by Sandy and Lori. Participation blocs were won by Judy Carriere (26 people brought back finished blocks).
Janet Murphy introduced our visitors and new members. She told about the different appliqué techniques being offered for us to learn tonight. Thank you Janet for organizing this. Meeting was adjourned.
