PROGRAM SUGGESTIONS
UFO night – everyone brings a UFO to work on. Perhaps show ‘n’ tell the UFOs on a Friday night and then have a Saturday retreat to finish them.
Organize a fund raiser.
Challenge Project – provide each member with a challenge fat quarter to make a project which includes the challenge fabric.
UFO Exchange – wrap a UFO (including everything already completed/cut, pattern information, fabric, etc.). Members could draw numbers for the UFO they will take home with them.
Organize a Shop Hop.
Present a program on Nickel Quilts.
Organize a quilt show.
Invite Nancy Clubb back for the second part of her presentation.
Present a program on Linus Quilts and Quilts of Valor (guild member Martha Smith knows all about these quilts); organize a sewing bee to make some quilts
Bring in fabric you no longer want and have a silent auction or blind swap.
Put an ugly or challenging fabric in a brown paper bag. Everyone takes a bag (no peeking) and must make something out of the fabric.
Organize a round robin quilt.
Sponsor a book report night where folks bring their favorite quilt book to show.
Sponsor a retreat with a visiting instructor.
Jr. Quilting day – if you know some one under age 14 who is interested in quilting (or you would like to get them interested in quilting), bring them with you.
The always popular “Let’s Eat” event – you know, it’s a holiday, it’s spring or “just because” and everyone brings potluck.
“Call Me” quilt.
Fat quarter trade
Paper piecing class
Workshop on binding quilts and other finishing techniques
